A total of 86 migrants of sub-Saharan origin arrived today at the Balearic Islands in Spain on board three precarious vessels intercepted off the coast of Formentera, Cabrera and Majorca, the Spanish Government delegation informed.

SThe authorities located the first vessel at 00:05 a.m. on the coast of Cala Saona in Formentera, where 27 migrants were intercepted, in an operation involving the Civil Guard, the island firefighters and the Red Cross.

Later, at 9:20 a.m., the Provincial Maritime Service and the Spanish Civil Guard Maritime Rescue rescued 32 migrants who followed a small vessel south of the island of Cabrera.

At 6:32, 27 other migrants were located by the Civil Guard in the Cala Pi area, in the municipality of Llucmajor, on the island of Mallorca.

According to the most recent data from the Spanish Ministry of Interior, since the beginning of the year there have been 3,385 irregular migrants on board 178 vessels from North Africa.

In 2025, the archipelago received 7,321 migrants in 401 vessels, representing an increase of 24.5% in the number of people and about 15% in the number of vessels compared to 2024.
