The average water reserves in the municipality of Almada today stood at 40%, a level that allows an evaluation and possible reduction of the number of hours of cut, today released the Municipalized Water and Sanitation Services (SMAS).

Ninformation published on your website, the SMAS of Almada indicate that the average reserve is calculated based on the storage levels of the reservoirs of the Alto do Indio, Sobrada, Raposo, Lazarim, Trafaria, Vale Cavala and Prague.
The monitoring scale used by the SMAS of Almada comprises five levels, where level 1 (red) corresponds to reserves below 20%, level 2 (orange) between 20% and 30%, level 3 (yellow) between 30% and 50%, level 4 (green) between 50% and 75% and level 5 (blue) to reserves above 75%.
The red level implies “maximum measures in force, orange “maintenance of all containment measures”, yellow “evaluation of the situation and possible reduction of the number of cutting hours”, green “phased lifting of some restrictions” and blue “progressive return to normality”.
Meanwhile, the SMAS also announced that they are continuing the operation of support for priority institutions, through the distribution of water reservoirs with capacity for a thousand liters to “enhance autonomy in the supply of the most vulnerable entities affected by the constraints in the system”.
After the installation, the deposits were supplied by tankers, in an operation that, according to the municipal company, allowed a more “safe and efficient” response.
Since the beginning of the month, successive failures have been reported in the water supply in the municipality of Almada, with special incidence in the Costa da Caparica, with the city council decreed an alert situation.
Among the measures already announced by that municipality in the district of Setúbal is the total cut in supply in certain areas of the county and the prohibition of all water uses in the public network that do not correspond to domestic or essential uses.
To minimize the impact of the lack of water in the municipality, in particular in the area of the Costa da Caparica, the Câmara de Almada has already managed to strengthen the water supply to the municipality with two new holes, which are injecting more 120 cubic meters of water in each hour.
