The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), composed of the six oil powers of the Arabian Peninsula, today condemned Iran’s attacks on civil infrastructure and facilities in Arab countries, classifying them as “war crimes”.

” Othe treacherous attacks by the Iranian regime on civil infrastructure and facilities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Kuwait and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan constitute war crimes that require immediate international accountability,” said CCG Secretary General Jassim al Budaiwi in a statement.
The leader of the economic alliance recalled that today’s Iranian attacks have injured several civilian workers, as well as material damage to energy facilities and a desalination station in Kuwait.
“What Iran has done is a very dangerous escalation and represents a serious violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, as well as war crimes that require international accountability due to its attacks on civil infrastructure and facilities,” he said.
In addition, it considered that these attacks constituted “a new attempt to destabilize the security and stability of the region”, which, since the beginning of the war in the Middle East on 28 February, has been exposed to Iranian retaliation attacks.
In this context, Al Budaiwi expressed his support for “all measures” that affected countries adopt to protect their security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, after several Persian Gulf nations have condemned Iran’s attacks and have claimed that they reserve the right to respond.
The CCG consists of the six economic powers of the Persian Gulf: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Kuwait.
