BArbara Norton de Matos completed 47 years of life on Tuesday, July 7. A special date that was publicly marked by the actress’s father, Luís Norton de Matos.
The former footballer and football coach resorted to social networks to congratulate their daughter and recall her birth in July 1979.
Luís Norton de Matos shared an old photograph with Barbara and in the legend of the record explained the curious reason that led to her not knowing her daughter six weeks after she was born.
“July 7, 1979. Vienna of Austria. I got word of Barbara’s birth by fax at the hotel where my team at Liege Standard was staying. He played against an Austrian team, counting on the Intertoto Cup. I partyed with the team with great joy and excitement,” he started by remembering the football coach.
Luís Norton de Matos lived in an important phase of his career as a coach and because he was “involved in games” and with the Belgian championship a few days before starting, he could not travel to Portugal to meet the baby. It was Barbara Norton de Matos’ mother who took her to Belgium so her father could finally see her.
“I didn’t physically meet Babi until six weeks later. Brussels Airport. There she came, nestled in a chair. First contact was crying. But in the back of the car, on the way to Liege, she looked at me curiously. And when I held her for the first time, she never cried in my arms again. Memories that never forget this tireless fighter. Don’t stop until you get enough [Do not stop until you have enough].”
