Iran’s supreme leader threatens to inflict on the US “unforgettable lessons”

” Athe American enemy is trying to incite war (…) he needs to know that the esteemed Iranian nation and the resistance front have unforgettable lessons reserved for him,” said ayatollah, in a written message released by state television.

“The repeated violation” of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries on June 17 to silence weapons “has once again shown to everyone that the signature of the US President is worthless,” he added.

These comments occurred hours after a negotiator claimed that Tehran suspended its commitments with the interim agreement signed about a month ago.

The statement attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei — which has not been publicly seen since the beginning of the war — was read on state television after the US and Iran had again exchanged attacks on infrastructure and military targets.

Tehran’s statements broke another fragile thread in a conflict that shows no signs of coming to an end.

The agreement was intended to permanently close hostilities. Now, Khamenei warns of “lessons” that will come, not only from Iran, but also from its allied armed groups in the region, to which he refers as the “Axis of Resistance”.

The battle for the Strait of Ormuz intensified in a conflict increasingly focused on controlling this essential waterway, which previously carried one fifth of the world’s crude oil.

However, official source of the Russian news agency TASS said today that the Iranian supreme leader will not reappear in public until the situation with the US and Israel is normal.

“For security reasons, your excellence will not reappear in public anytime soon. The government is waiting for the situation to normalise. He will then reappear,” said the same source.

The source added to TASS that Khamenei “is not appearing in public due to the war”, during which his father – the ayatollah Ali Khamenei – was killed on 28 February.
