O 3rd and 4th place of the 2026 World Cup, played by France and England, which took place at the end of Saturday night, was marked by Didier Deschamps’ farewell from the technical command of the Gauls.
Hours before the decisive duel at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Kylian Mbappé, captain of the French national team, turned to his social networks to leave a farewell message to 57-year-old coach who has been in office over the last 14 years.
In an emotional note, the Real Madrid player, who is the biggest star of this Gauls team, assumes that the selector deserved a better farewell and thanks for everything he has given, both to himself and to the country over this period.
“Today is your last dance. You gave us so much. We should have given you a better ending, but we failed. It is very difficult to express in words what you have contributed over 14 years, because you were a key figure in the renewal of this team,” he started by writing the captain of the selection of France, in an emotional message left through social network X (formerly Twitter).

” People didn’t always appreciate your greatness, but time and history will take care of it… Thank you for giving me the chance and opportunity to represent my country on the biggest stage for so many years,” continued the spearhead.
” I feel privileged to be able to stand by one of the greatest legends in our country, and I keep only excellent memories of everything we live and have conquered together. I wish you the best in this new adventure of yours and, once again, thank you for everything that you have contributed to this shirt that means so much to us,” ends Kylian Mbappé’s message.
Deschamps, 57 years old, earned Laurent Blanc in 2012 and led France to win the world title for the second time eight years ago, with a victory over Croatia (4-2), in Russia, re-editing the success achieved as captain in 1998, before Brazil (3-0), in Saint-Denis, on the outskirts of Paris. To your place should arrive Zinedine Zidane.
During this period, the ‘bleus’ also snatched the 2021 League of Nations against Spain (2-1), in Italy, but lost the finals of Euro2016, as hosts and before Portugal (1-0, after extension), with a goal of the alternate Eder, and the World Cup2022, in the tie for penaltis with Argentina (4-2, after equality 3-3 at the end of 120 minutes), in Qatar.
