Trump threatens Iran with far worse attacks if he attacks ships again

Aafter the U.S. armed forces announced that they had launched a series of attacks on targets in Iran, in retaliation for this country having hit merchant ships in waters near Oman, Trump turned to social networks for a threatening message.

“This is in response to the Iranian bombing of ships yesterday (Tuesday). If it happens again, it will be much worse!”, posted Trump on the Truth Social network, subtitling a photo that shows a fire near a city.

Trump had today threatened to trigger more military actions against Iran, after claiming that Iranian attacks on civilian ships marked the end of the ceasefire in force, signed in June.

The U.S. Military Central Command (CENTCOM) has advanced on social networks that, by order of President Donald Trump, U.S. forces “initiated additional attacks against Iran in order to further reduce their capacity to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Ormuz”.

The wave of attacks, for the second consecutive night, arises in response to the “recent unwarranted attacks” perpetrated by Iran in the disputed Strait of Ormuz “against merchant ships and their civilian crews”, which “were sailing freely through this international waterway of strategic importance”, the same source said.

The Iranian state press confirmed explosions at various points on the Iranian coast.

The official Iranian news agency IRNA reported the overflight of combat jets over Kish Island and several explosions in the port cities of Bandar Abbas, Konarak and Chabahar, some of which suffered power cuts.

CENTCOM confirmed on Tuesday attacks on more than 80 targets in Iranian territory, following fire on three commercial ships in the Strait of Ormuz.

The U.S. military command indicated that more than 60 small Iranian Revolutionary Guard vessels were attacked “to reduce Iran’s ability to continue attacking international trade flowing through the international trade corridor”.

The Iranian Revolution Guard announced this morning that it had reached 85 U.S. military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to U.S. bombings in Iranian territory.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a “serious warning about the consequences of non-compliance with the agreement”.

The latest attacks launched by Iran did not cause any casualties among the U.S. military or significant damage to the facility, a U.S. military officer said today on condition of anonymity to the France-Presse news agency.
