Nthe car industry only two years ago, Xiaomi continues to give letters and even in the materials shows ability to innovate. He recently presented a more sustainable aluminium alloy, potentially important for European brand ambitions.

Designated Titan Alloy 2.0, is produced with fully recycled aluminium, allowing lower carbon dioxide emissions in production by 93 percent against conventional aluminium.

This solution is already being produced by mass, integrating the new generations of 100 percent electric models of Chinese technology – SU7 and YU7. It is expected that it will be possible to produce 550,000 cars with this alloy every year, avoiding issuing 450,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

You can read in the Xiaomi Community forum that recycled aluminium comes from various sources, so alloys can be weaker. Thus, it focused on the purification of the material, optimization of the composition and improvements in the manufacturing process to achieve a alloy that maintains the required structural strength, besides improving stretching and stiffness.

How can it be relevant for entry into Europe?

Next year Xiaomi wants to start selling its cars in Europe. The new sustainable aluminium alloy could be important in these plans.

All because of the EU Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism, which tariffs imported vehicles taking into account the environmental impact on their entire life cycle – including production and therefore their components.

According to the Portuguese Environment Agency, the measure wants to avoid moving from the EU to countries “with less climate ambition” to cut costs. It also wants to prevent local products from being replaced by other products from those countries – with higher environmental costs.

There are still heavy tariffs imposed on electric cars imported from China, but with this innovation Xiaomi has an argument to respond to these European regulationsto protect the competitive market using materials and production processes with the greatest negative environmental impact.

Now no driver? Xiaomi will have set a new record in Nürburgring

With expected arrival in Europe for 2027, Xiaomi already collects some records in the mythical Nürburgring Nordschleife. And apparently, you’ve recently tried to face the circuit with an unconducted SUV.
