O minister of Industry of the Basque Country, Mikel Jaúregui, the president of Talgo, José Jainaga, and General Representative of Biscay, Elixabete Etxanobe, today, in the Technological Park of the Basque Country, presented the plan “New Generation of TransEuropean High Speed Trains”.
This project will create 140 jobs and will involve an investment of EUR 105 million in three years. Of these, EUR 78 million will be allocated to research and development.
“ We need to be aware that we all need to be aligned in order to be more efficient and innovative, through collaboration between institutions, technological centres and companies of all sizes,” said the President of Talgo.
This company will lead the Basqtrain 35 project, consisting of about 20 partners, which aims to strengthen the Basque Country's railway leadership, notably on high-speed trains.
The project also aims to implement maintenance and scanning systems through intelligent monitoring, in addition to wanting to improve user experience in comfort and accessibility matters.
“ Together, we will develop a new high-speed train that can operate in different European countries to “solve the fragmentation of the European rail network, where trains are manufactured for the markets of those countries, which makes circulation difficult,” he said.
