The food basket composed of 63 essential goods monitored by Deco Proteste went back to 1.34 euros, setting at 255.56 euros, the consumer protection association reported today.

Dsince it went up 0.11 euros the previous week (254,22 euros), “the food basket monitored by Deco Proteste, consumer protection organisation, is increasing again this week, reaching 255.56 euros, which represents an increase of 1.34 euros compared to the previous week”, reads the information released.
The food basket includes meat, frozen, fruit and vegetables, dairy, grocery and fish.
Among others, products such as turkey, chicken, horse mackerel, hake, onion, potato, carrot, banana, apple, orange, rice, spaghetti, sugar, ham, milk, cheese and butter are considered.
Between 30 September and 07 October, whole cereals increased from 29% to EUR 4,54, frozen peas rose by 11% to EUR 3,94 and tomato pulp increased by 10% to EUR 1,44, the products with the highest price increases.
At the beginning of the year, to buy the same basket consisting of 63 products, consumers spent less than €13.74 (less than 5.68%).
According to Deco Proteste, one year ago, it was possible to buy exactly the same products for minus 13,42 euros (less than 5.54%).
As early as 2022, it was possible to spend less EUR 67.86 (a difference of 36.15%).
As for last year, the highest percentage increase in price was found in products such as horse mackerel (42% currently costing 5.57 euros per kilogram), large cod (29% currently costing 20.73 euros per kilogram), and chucha tomatoes (26% which is reflected in a cost of 2.63 euros per kilogram).
Since January 5, 2022, the largest percentage increases have been those of beef to cook (110% to 12.25 euros per kilogram), coarse cod (96% to 20.73 euros per kilogram) and cabbage (86 % to 1.85 euros).
