Um cyberattack to a computer company that worked for the Information System of the Portuguese Republic (SIRP) allowed hackers to obtain unclassified data from Portuguese secretaries and other entities, confirmed today the SIRP.
“ The data collection will have been obtained through a cyberattack to the development server (used for testing) of the service provider who, during the year 2025, was hired to design the public websites of SIRP, SIS [Information and Security Service] and the Strategic Defense Information Service [SIED],” Lusa said today the official source of SIRP, stressing that these three portals “do not contain classified information”.
The clarification comes after, on Wednesday, it was announced in a cybercrime forum the sale of a collection of 120 ‘gigabytes’ of SIRP data, which, according to this service, may also include “information of websites” of dozens of public and private entities, who hired the same service provider for the respective sites’.
