At least five people, including one child, died in a building collapse in Istanbul, northwestern Turkey, according to local authorities. Seven people were initially trapped in the rubble, but four were rescued and one died after being transported to the hospital.

Pfive fewer people, including one child, died due to the collapse of a building on Thursday in Istanbul, northwestern Turkey, today declared the local authorities.
On Thursday, the rescue services had informed that seven people were under the rubble of the building.
The office of the governor of Istanbul reported in a press release published on social media that the rescue teams recovered four bodies on site, while the fifth person died shortly after being taken to a hospital after being rescued from the rubble.
According to authorities, 14 people survived the collapse of the seven - story building, located in the Maltepe district.
Three neighboring buildings were evacuated “as a precaution”, and a total of 55 people were transferred to other places in the city.
The three lower floors of the building, including a shop on the ground floor, gave way before the dawn of Thursday in the Maltepe district on the Asian side of Istanbul, a city divided by the Bosphorus Strait.
For now, the causes of the collapse of the building are unknown, where authorities estimate that more than 30 people lived, including about 15 on the lower floors.
