A Regulating entity of Energy Services (ERSE) today proposed an increase of 1.5% in the price of low voltage electricity in the regulated market to 2027.

“ In the regulated market of mainland Portugal, the transitional rates of sale to final customers in Low Normal Voltage (BTN) show, on average, a variation of 1.5%, between December 2026 and January 2027”, reads in a statement released by the regulator.

In October, consumers who remain in the regulated electricity market have seen the electricity bill increase by about 2.7%.

Considering this extraordinary rise, the annual change of 2027 relative to the average price of the year 2026, which already integrates the update of the energy tariff that came into force from 1 October 2026, rises to 3.7%.

This proposal is subject to the opinion of the Tariff Board, with the regulator until 15 December to publish the tariffs and prices that will apply from 1 January.

ERSE: Compensation for electrical interruptions reaches 2.1 million in 2025

The compensation paid to customers for interruptions in the distribution of electricity amounted to EUR 2.1 million in 2025, twice 2024, in a year marked by seven incidents considered exceptional, especially the April blackout.
