Sfollowing a statement from the Ministry of Finance at today’s “initial” meeting attended the Federation of Trade Unions of Public Administration and Bodies with Public Purposes (FESAP), State Technical Boards Union (STE) and National Federation of Workers’ Unions in Public and Social Functions (FNSTFPS).

“The Government has received and discussed the proposals and contributions made by the three trade union structures for the next financial year, having expressed commitment and receptivity to examine the issues presented, with the aim and determination to continue working together in the search for the best balanced solutions that guarantee the strengthening of available income and the continuous improvement of working conditions in the State,” the Ministry said.

“ Despite the context of last Friday's stoppage, the government reaffirms that the space par excellence to build bridges and achieve solid progress is the negotiating table. In this sense, the Executive remains fully focused and available to continue the negotiation work with all trade union organizations, in conjunction with the country’s budgetary stability goals”, he said.

The meetings are part of the annual consultation provided for in the General Labour Law in Public Functions and the fulfilment of the commitments made in the Multiannual Agreement on the Valuation of Workers of Public Administration 2026-2029, signed in January with two trade union structures.

The Ministry reiterates the government’s priority “in investing and valuing public administration through a close, transparent social dialogue”, with “effective responses” in the proposal for a State Budget for 2027.

The agreement in force, it goes, “ensures the valorization of public workers by 2029”, being the “cross for the modernization of public administration and the provision of public services of excellence”.

At the meeting, “the positive and structured work that has been developed has been remembered, which translates into the fulfillment of the agreed wage update stages, the progress of the review and the appreciation of almost four dozen special careers and the signing of almost 60 agreements,” the Ministry said.

“ For the future, as provided for in the Government Programme from 2027 onwards, new issues and measures, such as the new mechanisms for assessing performance and professional development, are also planned to be developed and negotiated,” he said.
