O guilherme Ribeiro competed today in Peniche for the first time in a race of the world surf circuit, having won his drums and advanced for the second round, and revealed that he felt “very good” in water.

“ It was strangely comfortable, I might add. Since the waves, I've been training a lot here in the last few years, so I feel a very great comfort here. Since the lycra, since competing with the best in the world, I can say that it was strangely comfortable and felt very well”, the Portuguese surfer revealed to the journalists.

Guilherme Ribeiro competed in the seventh drums, and scored 11.16 points (in 20 possible) on the two best waves (6.33 and 4.83), surpassing Australian George Pitar, who scored only 5.57 points (4.00 and 1.57).

“ I felt good about the decisions I made, I felt that it was a good ‘heat’ (battery) and I will take these good things to the next”, highlighted.

In the fourth round of the second round, Guilherme Ribeiro will face Japanese Kanoa Igarashi, who has a home in Ericeira and spends great seasons in Portugal.

“ I've been surfing lately with Kanoa, we've created some proximity, and that's it. I'm gonna look like another surfer I do with him monthly and I'm gonna do my best. It is in the top of the best in the world and has amazing surf and has a very great comfort here on this beach. So I will do my best, do my best, believe in me and believe it is possible ", stressed the athlete 22 years old.

In addition, Guilherme Ribeiro expressed his satisfaction at realizing the dream of surfing against the best in the world, at Meo Rip Curl Pro Portugal, 10th and antepenultimate stage of the Championship Tour (CT) of the World Surf League (WSL) which began today at Supertubes Beach, in Peniche, Leiria, and before the Portuguese public.

“It was all I was imagining, all I was idealizing was this, this whole force. With extra strength still with my friends, with my family who are here, they turned their days to support me. Touch me a lot, it is very exciting and I am very glad that they are here and it really gives me an extra strength and I know that they will support me until the end ", highlighted the athlete of the Costa de Caparica.

And he shot :”I passed my first ‘heat’ in the CT. It’s true, I grew up watching people here pass ‘heats’, I grew up watching Vasco [Ribeiro] and the ‘Kikas’ [Frederico Morais] with ‘wild cards’ [invitations] passing ‘heats’ here, and doing the same gives me a special taste and I’m very happy”.
