A Portuguese Navy coordinated last Monday, October 12, through the Centro de Coordenação de Busca e Salvamento Marítimo de Ponta Delgada (MRCC Delgada), the rescue of a man of Senegalese nationality who was on board a fishing vessel. The vessel sailed about 50 nautical miles (about 93 kilometres) south of Pico Island in the Azores.
The information was revealed today by this branch of the Armed Forces through a note published on the site and sent to the essays, in which it is also mentioned that the alert was given at 6:30 p.m. and realized “that the crewman had symptoms of a stroke.”
After articulation with the Urgent Patient Guidance Center (CODU-MAR), “the ship was determined to diverge to the port of Horta, where it docked at 2:30 p.m. on October 13th,” it is also explained.
Subsequently, the victim was transported by ambulance from the Regional Civil Protection and Fire Department of the Azores (SRPCBA) to the hospital unit.
The Navy also highlights that MRCC was involved in the operation Delgada, the Port of Horta Captaincy, the CODU-MAR and the Regional Civil Protection and Fire Department of the Azores (SRPCBA).
