O prime Minister Luís Montenegro, who participates on Tuesday, 6 October, in the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, defended in front of European leaders that “the doors of Portugal, which are also those of Europe, are not closed, but are also not open”.
In a statement on the cost of living, in which it touched on several points, including the energy crisis and the crisis in housing, the Portuguese Chief Executive recalled that “Portugal has had, in recent years, an exponential increase in foreigners residing in the country, a situation that the Government has understood to be unsustainable”.
“ We carry out a structural reform, change the so-called ‘law of foreigners’, nationality and return. We regulate immigration and dignify the lives of people, those who seek Portugal for good, to add value, capacity and competence to our human resources. Today, the doors of Portugal, which are also the doors of Europe, are not closed, but are also not wide open ", shot.
