Amr Seguro is attending the meeting of the Arraiolos Group and asked by journalists about the Prime Minister's statements that Portugal is not going through a moment of turbulence he said: “Do not ask the President of the Republic to comment on the statements that other holders of sovereign bodies make”. “ What is important to me right now is that housing is a problem that needs an answer”, lawyered.

He recalled that “he has been defending, throughout my public interventions, that understanding is necessary”. “ Still on 5 October I appealed to interparty understanding as a condition for finding robust solutions to solve people's problems. One of these problems is housing”He also called on the head of state.

“ I know situations – we all know – of many students who have difficulty studying because they are displaced, many families and many people who have difficulty paying the price of an income or the loan of a house”, added the President of the Republic, stressing that “the average [age] in which young people leave their parents’ homes in Portugal is in the order of 30 years, which delays their project of life”.

In this way, it stressed, “all political leaders have an obligation to put on the table solutions to solve the housing problem in our country”.

Already asked whether it considers that there is a risk of radicalisation of the protests in our country, as in other countries, Insurance said that “a Constitution is clear: it allows and guarantees everyone the right to express themselves freely. And that is a fundamental value”.

“But it also says everyone has to keep the law. So the worst that can happen is that when you fight for just causes, the way you find it, deep down, goes against the law. This does not”, he stressed, also trying to understand “very well what are the concerns of which it manifests itself, but I would appeal to you again to all demonstrations that exist are law-abiding“.

“The crucial and fundamental thing is that solutions are found and that is the appeal that I leave to all political actors”it's over.

It should be remembered that the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, today asked the protesters of the Movement for Housing in Porto to “don’t be selfish” regarding tranquility and public order, and defended that police forces are usually “extraordinarily careful and respectful”.

Speaking at the European Council meeting in Brussels on the day the Movement for Housing denounced a strong police intervention at night, the Head of Government called for: “ We do not have that instability, we do not have that level of conflictuality and we cannot fall into the mistake of considering that few people now give an idea of a country that seems to be in turmoil, it is not.”.

“ I have no elements to be able to issue an opinion, but what I think is that the our security forces are extraordinarily careful and respectful of these principles, the principle of necessity, adequacy and proportionality“, it did.

Remember also that the movement for housing that has protested in Porto since Saturday, with a camp that began that day, denounced a police charge this morning that caused injuries in 37 of the participants, two of whom were in serious condition.

According to the movement, among the wounded is a disabled person and several participants in the concentration were hospitalized.
