Otimorese voters can make the electoral census and update the electoral card to the biometric system in all administrative posts of Timor-Leste until 22 January, the government announced today.
“The Technical Secretariat of Support for the Electoral System [STAE] invites Timorese citizens from the age of 16 or more who have not yet made the electoral census to address the service stations, to register and obtain the Electoral Card”, can be read in a notice published on the official page of the Timorese Executive.
The notice points out that citizens who are already registered should update their electoral card to biometrics.
Until January 22, voters may also change personal data or the place of residence in administrative posts.
The Timorese citizens who are going to register for the first time must submit a valid birth certificate, identity card or passport, and a declaration of residence issued by the juicer.
The same documents are requested to update the new electoral card with biometric system.
Citizens who have acquired Timorese nationality must also present the Citizenship Certificate issued by the Ministry of Justice.
“STAE requests the cooperation and active participation of all citizens to ensure that their electoral data is correct, complete and up-to-date in order to be able to participate in the elections,” adds the warning.
Timor-Leste will hold presidential elections in March 2027.
