The reasons why your house gets mold and humidity in autumn
Mold and moisture are things that can associate more with winter and colder days. It's something that may appear during the fall without realizing it and the guilt is of some mistakes and bad habits that you may be committing. Drying the underwear and having large furniture against the walls are two of them, as a Tom’s Guide publisher reveals.
Kaycee Hill is an editor at Tom’s Guide and reveals various tricks to the house in its articles. In one of the recent publications he made known some of the wrong habits and the reasons why he comes home with mold and moisture during the autumn months.
Mould and humidity in autumn: Here are the reasons
After summer and milder temperatures, it may take some time to notice some signs of moisture and mold at home. The truth is that you can already walk around your house and it is important to pay attention to some bad habits.
One of the major problems is related to drying clothes at home without any criteria. “Drying wet clothes on radiators or stretchers inside the house is one of the main causes of high indoor humidity during autumn and winter,” Kaycee Hill says.
“ When excess humidity has nowhere to go, it migrates to the cooler surfaces of the house, such as windows and external walls, where it condenses and can quickly favor mold growth.”
The fact that you have large furniture facing the walls it also doesn't help at all and leads to mold and moisture appearing. “As the indoor hot air gradually infiltrates these spaces, moisture deposits on the cold surface, creating a wet zone that goes unnoticed until it spoils the closets or clothes.”
Be careful, too rapidly increase the temperature of a division. You may think it's the simplest way to get more comfortable at home, but it turns out to be something of little benefit.
“ The rapid heating of the air heats the interior of a division, but leaves the underlying structure, such as bricks, window frames and windows, cold. As hot air retains much more water vapor than cold air, this sudden heat causes the air to absorb the ambient humidity”, continues
