Termines this Tuesday the strike of the workers in the airline easyJet, and it took the paralysis led, until Monday, to the cancellation of almost 370 flights. A second strike by easyJet crew members is still scheduled for December 19-23.
Remember that before the strike began, the carrier had already preventively cancelled a set of flights.
“ During the strike period, easyJet had initially planned to operate 786 flights to and from Portugal. After these preventive adjustments to the programming, the company planned to operate 442 flights and plans to successfully carry out 428 ", provided the company's official source in response to Lusa.
EasyJet also stated that it was focused on minimizing the impact of the stoppage, “acting in accordance with applicable legislation and regulations”.
Effects of the strike should continue to be felt by the end of this week
The easyJet cabin crew strike led until Monday to the cancellation of almost 370 flights, according to the numbers today advanced to Lusa by the union, which warned that the effects should continue to be strongly felt by friday.
“The company, in addition to the 343 flights it cancelled before the strike began, has already had to cancel, since 02 and until today, 26 more flights, which represents a percentage of cancellations very close to 90%”, the president of the National Civil Aviation Flight Personnel Union (SNPVAC), Ricardo Penarrioias, in statements to Lusa, has advanced.
The membership of the crew, according to union numbers, continues at 100%, which for the SNPVAC demonstrates a “message of strength and union”, which expects easyJet to present, after the shutdown, a proposal “closer to the operational reality” of the bases of Portugal.
Ricardo Penarroias also warned that eight flights were carried out in the margins of minimum services “in an illegal manner”, i.e. using crew members and heads of foreign bases, a situation that had already been reported to the Labour Conditions Authority (ACT) by the union.
The effects of the strike, which ends on Tuesday, should continue to be “strongly felt” by Friday, warned.
At the origin of the strike are, among other demands, the stability of the scales, the remuneration progression according to antiquity and the proposed conditions in the negotiation of the Company Agreement.
