Accident at the South Tagus Metro: Lines 1 and 3 conditioned in Almada

Lines 1 and 3 of the Metro Sul do Tejo are conditioned after a collision between two compositions at Avenida Bento Gonçalves, in Almada, in Setúbal district. The managing company has reported that the movement is taking place on alternative routes.

As lines 1 and 3 of the Metro Sul do Tejo were at 9:30 a.m. today conditioned following a collision of two compositions at Avenida Bento Gonçalves, in Almada, in the district of Setúbal, the managing company informed.

 

The collision between two compositions of the Metro Sul do Tejo about 7:20 a.m. caused two minor injuries that were transported to the Hospital de São José in Lisbon, according to Civil Protection.

According to information available on the website of Metro Transportes do Sul, because of the accident is conditioned the circulation in Line 1, which connects Cacilhas to Corroios, and Line 3 between Cacilhas and the Faculty of Science and Technology of the NOVA University.

Due to the accident, the movement is being made (around and round) between Cacilhas and the Cova da Piedade and between Praguel and the University, according to the company.

Metro Transport of the South also indicates that Line 2, which links Corroios to Prague, is functioning normally.

Source of the Sub-Regional Command of the Setúbal Peninsula (district to which the municipality of Almada belongs) told Lusa that, due to the accident, nine operations were on site, with the support of four vehicles.

The same source said they were unaware of the causes of the accident.
