“ ANDbecause of our constitutional responsibility and after the completion of the necessary procedures and measures, we announce the start of military operations to recover the other territories and extend the authority of the State and its institutions to the entire national territory,” Al-Alimi said from the seat of the Yemeni Government in Aden.
The head of the Presidential Leadership Council added that he instructed “the armed and security forces and all military formations to begin carrying out the tasks assigned to them, in accordance with the approved plans, until the country is released from control of the Huti terrorist militia”.
On 3 September, the Hutis launched an offensive in areas of the provinces of Taiz and Hodeida and, since then, achieved important territorial advances, including the taking of the city of Moca and the zones around the narrow of Bab el-Mandeb.
The attacks intensified even further this weekend, especially between the Hutis and Saudi forces, allied with the Government of Aden, which exchanged intense bombings that hit the outskirts of the Yemeni capital, Sana, as well as the Saudi regions of Asir — where a person was injured — and Najran.
