O the leader of the Aquista today asked the leaders that at the next convention, which is due to take place in November, the party shows that it is ready to rule and again left appeals for internal union.
In the opening speech of the National Council this evening, which takes place in a hotel in Lisbon, André Ventura again appealed to the party's union, a message that had already marked his speech at the last meeting of the maximum body between conventions in May.
At the meeting to convene the next convention of the Arrival for the days 20, 21 and 22 November, the leader again confirmed that he will be re-candidate in the direct elections scheduled for 31 October. This will be the seventh convention in seven years of the party's life.
“ Because I understand and I think I can join you all in a purpose that a party that has become very big can still carry out. It was unthinkable, a few years ago, to look at the level and the degree of implementation, but this degree and this level of implementation does not scare me ", said.
After the elections to the district, in which several changed leaders, André Ventura considered it normal that there were differences in a party “which recently reached 100,000 militants”, but again asked for them to be overcome: “If we want to win the country, first we have to show that we have a united party and ready to rule.”.
“ I feel prepared. I would like to know and I would like to feel that I will have, not behind me, but on my left side, on my right side, on all sides, a party with that strength, with that energy and that knows something, [that] history this time will not be repeated, this time we will win”, he said.
The president of Aquiz asked the leaders to show that “his love for the country is still much greater than any guerrilla or any internal struggle”, warning that “the time of blind trust and blank letters has passed” and that “the country will also be watching” the party’s faces.
“ It's not about votes, or applications, or directions, or delegates, it's about the country. We will lose if we focus within ourselves, we will lose if we look inside for three days [...]. It is even being able to realize that the moment is not to lose ourselves fighting each other, the moment is to join that strength and that energy to fight to win. In many years, we will probably never have the same opportunity again,” he said.
In a speech of about 45 minutes, Ventura admitted that in the seven years since he founded and has been leading the party, there were “better moments and worse times”, and said he wanted to contradict those who say that the Arrivo is a political force “one man”.
In his speech, the leader of the Aquida also spoke of the “brutal increase” of the cost of living and justified that the party did not want to “neither engage nor destroy the State”.
André Ventura also criticized the announced feasibility of the State Budget by the PS and considered that the country is “the same” of seven years ago, “a country of poor people, with politicians, some of them rich, mysteriously, with a rich State, but with the vast majority of families without knowing and without even being able to look to the future with some hope”.
Ventura pointed out that the Aquisa “is disruptive” and considered that on the day that it ceased to be and that it “begins to be part of the same power-keeping scheme of 50 years ago”, the party “died in its genesis and its DNA, its energy, its strength and its ambition”.
