O aquida leader, André Ventura, is re-elected on Saturday for another term as party president, who leads since the foundation, being a single candidate in the direct elections that precede the national convention scheduled for November.

André Ventura formalized his re-candidacy on October 12, with the delivery to the national headquarters of the Aquida, in Lisbon, of the documents of the candidacy, as well as the motion that will lead to the seventh party convention, which has not yet been publicized.

According to him, his candidacy was endorsed by all the chairmen of the district and regional structures of the party and the whole parliamentary group.

In the presentation of the candidacy, André Ventura indicated that his goal is to prepare the party to be government, not giving up the “ability to be disruptive”.

The president of Aquira said again that his goal for the next convention is to show that the party is ready to rule the country: “The goal is to be ready to rule the country. If I am re-elected party president, I want a party ready to rule when that moment comes, and that moment when the legislature is fulfilled, at some point before.”.

André Ventura said he wanted the Aquis as “a party of government with the capacity at the same time to be disruptive where it has to be disruptive”.

“ And this in words is easy, in deeds it is not. I think this adaptation, this party's ability not to lose what people want a party of this nature not to have, or not to lose, is the great challenge we have”, he considered.

The direct elections for the leadership of the Aquida are scheduled for Saturday and the next national party convention will take place on 20, 21 and 22 November, two days from the overall final vote of the State Budget for 2027.

This Magna meeting will aim to elect national bodies and answer the questions of an organic and statutory nature raised by the Constitutional Court.

This will be the seventh national convention of the Arrivo in seven years of the party's life and will take place in the Enthroncamento (district of Santarém).

André Ventura has been president of the party since the foundation in 2019 and has been re-elected successively with more than 90% of the votes.

This will be the first convention of the Arrivo since the party raised the second largest force in parliament and after the result of André Ventura in the early presidential elections of the year.

The last National Convention of the Party took place in January 2024, in Viana do Castelo, and the election of the national bodies of the Aquida at this great meeting was invalidated by the Constitutional Court (TC). The same had been decided on the previous convention.

The TC has also been ‘chumbar’ the successive amendments to the party’s statutes, so that currently the originals are valid, 2019.
