Carlos Tévez is one of the few players who can afford to say that he played with Cristiano Ronaldo (in Manchester United) and Lionel Messi (in the main selection of Argentina), and, in an extensive interview granted this Thursday, the Ferdinand River, a former central defense with which he shared spa in Old Trafford, explained what, he believes, separates both these 'colossos', placing the compatriot above.

“ For me, Messi, because Messi is natural, comes out naturally. We saw Cristiano, who, with every dribble or every move he made, was always training. I never saw Messi train this”, started by affirming the former Argentinean international, currently 42 years old, in a shared conversation on YouTube channel ‘Ferdinand Presents River‘.

“ If we're going to the physical side, to Messi's power and Ronaldo's power, they're the same. I think the difference is, in the head, Ronaldo scored many more goals than Messi. Then, on the shot, Messi greatly improved, and so did Cristiano. The hunger that has to be the best... I think that the competition they had made them both grow, and they were always top”, he continued.

“Something happened with Messi... He said, ‘Be calm. Today, we won, for 2-0’, and we won, for 2-0, with two goals. You could see that he didn’t want to play and he didn’t do anything, but if he told you ‘Today, we will win, by 3-0’, he would score all three goals easily. And we know that Cristiano had to demand more of himself, had to play from equal to equal. I could score the three goals, but I did not tell you before, with that certainty with which it said Messi ", completed.

Still, Carlos Tévez caught Rio Ferdinand by surprise, confessing that “the best” player with whom he had the opportunity to play was... Paul Scholes, another former red devil who ‘turned’ sports commentator: “This size, he said nothing. On the first ball, ‘vrum’. In practice, it was always pass, pass, pass. For me, it was the best”.

“Christian Ronaldo gave that glamour to Manchester United”

Carlos Tévez then explained how it was to form, together with Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, the one who was one of the most ‘fearing’ offensive tridents in world football history: “I came across Rooney and Ronaldo, two very, very aggressive players, a lot of area.”.

“One came from England, the other from Argentina, and Cristiano gave that glamour to the team, but we had [Michael] Carrick, who also had... We also had [Ryan] Giggs. They had that style of play, along with Scholes, Rooney and I, who were much more aggressive”, recalled the former forward, who, in his career, also represented Corinthians, West Ham, Manchester City, Juventus, Shanghai Shenhua and Boca Juniors.

“ I understand Wazza, and you understand me. At that time Cristiano was number one. Remember that team? We won, for 3-0, Cristiano didn't score and get [with his head down]... I understand Cristiano, but I also understand Wazza. If you saw Wazza, you would understand ", concluded.
