“ Um ballistic missile launched by the terrorist militia huthi to the city of Khamis Mushait was intercepted and destroyed”, wrote the spokesman of the coalition led by Riyadh, Turki al-Maliki, on social network X.

This new attack appears in full intensification of gunfire exchanges between Saudi Arabia and the pro-Iranian Hutis fighters of Yemen.

The rebels said they hit the international airport of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, and a refinery of the state oil company Aramco on Monday.

They justified that the attacks constitute a response to Saudi air support to the counter-offensive launched by Yemeni forces on Sunday.

The coalition that has supported the Yemeni Government since 2015 said that the “Alvorecer do Yemen” operation is underway to recover parts of Yemen’s territory into the hands of the Hutis, including the capital Sana.

The coalition forces claimed on Monday evening territorial gains in strategic areas of the Red Sea coast lost in September for the hutis.

The coalition led by Saudi Arabia stated that it was providing a “24-hour air support to Yemeni armed forces on the ground”.

The Hutis reported 60 Saudi air strikes in 24 hours.

In response, they claimed that they attacked Riyadh airport with drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles.

They also targeted an Aramco refinery in Rabigh, military facilities and two airports in the south of the country, said rebel military spokesman Yahya Saree.

Saudi Arabia today confirmed the Hutis attacks on airports in Jizan and Najran, which caused three minor injuries and material damage.

Hutis fighters warned airlines that air space on Saudi Arabia “is not safe”, except for the holy cities of Medina and Mecca, which they maintain have never been targeted.
