A circulation in the Metropolitan of Lisbon (ML) is suspended today, due to the 24-hour strike of the leaders of the Operations Directorate (PDO), announced on Tuesday by the carrier.
The metro informs on its ‘site’ that due to the strike, called by the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans), there will be no circulation of trains, finding the stations closed, being the service resumed at 6:30 Thursday.
In turn, in a note published on their website, the unions ensure that the decision to proceed with this stoppage was not taken “in a hasty or lightly”.
“ After months of alerts, meetings and requests for clarification that did not result in concrete solutions to the persistent problems at the Central Command Post (CPC) and the Traction Posts, the shutdown will take place ", justified.
According to the unions, the strike “emerges in the face of non-compliance and the lack of concrete responses from the company’s administration since the signing of the agreement of 13 April 2026”.
Among the problems identified by the trade unions are the lack of workers in the CPC and the Traction, the excessive use of additional work, the existence of prolonged shifts, delays in the training of officials and inspectors and what they consider to be an emptying of the functions of the heads.
On Tuesday, the board of directors of the ML considered in a statement the strike “disproportional, because the issues underlying it concern only about 100 workers, a total of 1,600” and “unadjusted, because it disregards the results recently achieved in collective bargaining”, with the company agreement signed about month and a half ago.
The Lisbon Metropolitan operates daily with four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Calheiras do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia) and Red (Aeroporto-São Sebastião).
Usually, the subway runs between 6:30 and 1:00.
