O defense minister and leader of the CDS-PP, Nuno Melo, argued that the current Executive did more for the “social peace” of Portugal in two and a half years than the Socialist Party (PS) “in eight years”, thus rejecting the need for a reformulation of the Government.

“ I assess politics, such as life, results and when we hit the dust and focus on objective data, we realized a country that did more for social peace in Portugal than the Socialist Party in eight years”, fired Nuno Melo, in an interview at the end of the morning of Saturday, October 17, at SIC News, a day when there are several demonstrations taking place throughout the country for the right to housing, against the increase in cost of living and the proposal of the State Budget for 2027 (OE2027).

Asked whether the Executive of the Democratic Alliance (AD) is in need of a reformulation, the centrist ruler maintained that it “solved problems of various socio-professional classes that were on the street before claiming it and now, as you see, resolve pacified because they see that response was given”, passing by the strike of Metro officials and the fact that thousands of people went out to protest this week against the measures taken by the current government.

“ There is a country that grows more than some tendingly more powerful and wealthy in the Eurozone, there is a country that has a surplus, a country that has not increased a single tax, which has reduced several and the IRS four times, which The Economist has considered the economy of the year, which it is doing in different areas, namely in national defense, what has not happened in 52 years in democracy and, therefore, if the results are of interest to something, the results are good”, shooting the perspective of remodeling for the Prime Minister.
