News to Minutes
A baby girl, who died in May in Spain, following severe burns suffered while bathing her, will have been between seconds to a minute under hot water.
According to the autopsy performed, the 16-month-old girl may have been between seconds and almost a minute under boiling water, considering the severity of the injuries she was experiencing, reports Telecinco.
It is recalled that the child was admitted to Virgen del Rocío hospital for two months before succumbing to injuries.
The report also indicates that the injuries “were uniform and homogeneous”, which means that they may have been the victim of an intentional act, because when it comes to an accident the burns are more dispersed.
Nevertheless, it is not yet possible to conclude whether the incident, which took place in the locality of Bormujos in Seville, occurred accidentally or whether there was intentionality on the part of the person involved. It is known, however, that following this data, the judge asked a specialist in Plastic Surgery of the Burn Unit of the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville to prepare an expert report in which the “circumstances and mechanics of injuries that caused death” are evaluated, a process that is expected to “take some time”.
The case was made public in June, with the victim's mother, Andrea Burdalo, revealing that the burns had happened when his partner bathed him. Andrea's mother also revealed that that day she would find her daughter extremely altered.
The defendant claims it was an accident. According to this, he left the girl in the bath to go get a towel, when he heard a scream and realized that there was hot water falling on the child.
The man is at liberty while still being investigated, and he runs the risk of being charged with murder for negligence.
