“ ANDthis is now a centrality in the map, in the global economy and the future, in geopolitics and economic geostrategy”, said the Azorean Social Democratic leader, and president of the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM), at the inaugural session of the Young Convention of the 50 Years of Autonomy, held in Horta, on the island of Faial.

According to a note from the PSD/Açores press office, José Manuel Bolieiro pointed out that autonomy allowed the region to project in the world and maintained that this development “is not done by the industrial quantity, it is done by the quality of knowledge and its transformation into wealth”, also leaving a message of trust and hope to the new generations.

In the session, the president of JSD/Açores, Luís Raposo, highlighted the importance of the commitment of the new generations to autonomy, defending the need to continue the work carried out and not take for granted the legacy left by its protagonists, says the note.

For Luís Raposo, “his generation must be able to provide future generations with “a stronger, more prepared and more opportunities.”.

The Young Convention of the 50 Years of Autonomy is promoted by the PSD/Azores, through the Office for Regional Studies, in partnership with JSD/Azores.

According to PSD/Azores, the sessions are encouraged by protagonists of the first generations of the party in the islands where they will take place.

In the session of Horta participated as invited speakers Luís Garcia, president of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Carlos Ferreira, president of the Municipality of Horta, Fernando Faria, former deputy, and Eugenio Leal, former regional secretary, who “shared memories and reflections on the process of building autonomy in different areas”, adds PSD/Açores.

The Youth Convention of the 50 Years of Autonomy will continue in Ponta Delgada, on November 1, and in Angra do Heroísmo, on December 1.
