O the leader of the PS was today “sad and concerned” with the “permanent confusions” of the Government, lamenting the permanent uneasiness in the Ministry of Internal Administration, such as the dismissal of the Secretary-General.

José Luís Carneiro told journalists that he agrees that the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, should be heard in Parliament to clarify all questions about the decision to dismiss Ricardo Carrilho from the post of Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Administration.

“ I must say I am sad, on the one hand, and worried, on the other. Worried because the government is in permanent confusion. It's a bunch of confusion after a few. Sad because some of these confusions are in the most nerve sectors of state life ", sustained.

The Secretary-General of the PS, who has already served as Minister of Internal Administration, recalled the importance of this ministry “for the freedoms, rights and guarantees of citizens”.

“ I am therefore concerned about the government, which is a source of permanent instability. ... Since the first hour [of the PSD/CDS-PP Government], the Ministry of Internal Administration has not been calm,” he criticized.

Asked if Luís Neves has been the main source of uneasiness in the Ministry of Internal Administration, Carneiro chose not to personalize in the minister.

“ The whole government has been a source of unease. We have been taking care to give the government conditions for stability and to fulfill its duties towards the Portuguese population and what we have seen is that the Government is, as a rule, the source of instability, unbalance, of the discomfort it creates in the very lives of the institutions”, he replied.

The PS leader left a direct appeal to Luís Montenegro: “May the Prime Minister be very attentive to everything that is going on in the different institutions”.

The Minister of Internal Affairs today appointed Maj. Gen. Nuno Parreira da Silva as Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI).

The new Secretary-General of the MAI is appointed on the same day that Ricardo Carrilho was fired by the Minister of Internal Administration and when several media outlets report disagreements with Luís Neves on the Integrated System of Emergency and Security Networks of Portugal (SIRESP), the emergency communication network of the Portuguese State.
