Paiva Castle takes advantage of Boavista and Vegide farms

O the municipality of Castelo de Paiva, in the district of Aveiro, concluded the administrative possession of Quinta da Boavista, Casa da Boavista and Quinta de Vegide, an investment of almost one million euros, was announced today.

In statements to Lusa, the mayor, Ricardo Cardoso (PS), said that on Monday the contracts were signed in order to transmit the benefits of the House and Quinta da Boavista and Quinta de Vegide.

It is about the availability of part of the heritage of Count José de Arrochela, whose roots already belonged to the municipality, but whose enjoyment was in the possession of two women, daughters of the butler of the former count.

The operation represented an investment of 600,000 euros in Quinta da Boavista, with an area of 12 hectares, and 300,000 euros in Quinta de Vegide, with an area of eight hectares.

The mayor classified the moment as a historic day for the municipality, remembering that it is an ambition with several decades.

“ The last count of Castelo Paiva died in 1997 and since then there has been this impasse: the usufructuaries did not allow the municipality to intervene. The municipality could not have possession to intervene in the buildings that were degrading ", Lusa told the mayor.

With the signing of the transmission contracts of the usufructs, the municipality can already intervene in Quinta da Boavista and advance the project for the creation of an urban park in the center of the county.

“ With this right of transmission, it is already possible that the municipality intervenes not only in the conde's own house, chapel, all the place, houses of homemade and all the old forest of the count of Castelo Paiva, which is thus available to the municipality, in which I intend to make an urban park ", said the mayor.

The mayor also mentioned that some works that were inside the house and that were degrading will be identified and stored in a municipal property.
