Vitor Murta, former president of Boavista, died this Friday morning, victim of a heart attack, when he was at home, in Leça da Palmeira, the newspaper reports THE GAME. The former leader of the rash, who was in the leadership between 2018 and 2024, was 50 years old.
Murta would eventually be directly linked to the sale of the SAD Boavista to Gérard López in the 2020/21 season.
Elected president on 28 December 2018, Vítor Murta collected at that time 334 of the 441 registered votes (75.7%), in a universe of 3,600 Boavista members who were in a position to exercise this right.
Less than six years later, on February 27, 2024, the exadrezado leader announced, in a press conference, that he would resign from office, after a home defeat against Sp. Braga (0-4) that motivated strong contest at Bessa.
“I have already informed the majority shareholder and will now inform the chairman of the SAD General Council that I will cease my duties on the board of directors. From this time on, I will only enter management, although the majority shareholder invited me to do another term ", said Vítor Murta.
“I’ve already reported that I won’t make another mandate, because the focus should be on the players. I understand that, at this moment, I am a destabilization factor, in the sense that people spend more time addressing me in terms of little proper than supporting the team”, he concluded.
To date, Boavista has not yet reacted officially, nor have any information on the funeral ceremonies of Victor Murta been revealed.
