Sob o mote “More salary, better pensions and public services/Against the increase in the cost of living/New direction for Portugal!” the demonstration convened by the trade union center led by Tiago Oliveira will take place in three points of the country.

In Porto, the concentration is scheduled for 10:30 p.m., starting at Batalha Square and ending at D. João I Square, while in Coimbra is also scheduled for 10:30 p.m., starting at the Portugal of the Little and ending at Praça 8 de Maio.

Already in Lisbon, the demonstration is scheduled for 2:30, starting at Cais do Sodré and ending at Rossio.

“ We are going to have a great national demonstration” and a “great moment of struggle and combativity”, said CGTP Secretary General Tiago Oliveira, in statements to the Lusa agency.

Hoping to count on the participation of workers, pensioners and young people, the leader of the CGTP said that the demonstration aims at each person who “feels the difficulties of day-to-day”, due to the “brutal increase” of the prices of housing, fuel and food basket, and who “feels public services to be displeased”, is “heard” and who “have the opportunity to fight the current policy”.

According to the Secretary-General of CGTP several strike notices were issued to ensure the participation of workers from various sectors, including in the trade and services sector and the show sector.

Tiago Oliveira also left a warning to the parties “who have in their hands and with their vote the decision to approve or not this State Budget”, saying that “they cannot get into the middle of the wall in the hope that they will not be given responsibility for the path that the country is following”.

“ The direction the country is taking and the direction of the difficulties that affect workers are the result of the policies that are implemented [...]. And so we will take responsibility for all those who allow the difficulties to continue,” he said.

Asked about whether it was a mistake the Secretary-General of the PS announced the vote of the party before the proposal of the State Budget for 2027 was known, the leader of CGTP stressed that “the PS will have to explain well to the Portuguese their position”.

“ While trying to get into the middle of the wall, some are suffering the consequences of the policy being followed. Some are suffering from a brutal increase in the cost of housing, with a brutal increase in fuel costs, with low wages, with careers that are not valued. And therefore, as long as there is a strategy to put in the middle of the wall waiting for the storm to pass there are millions of people who are paying dearly for the policies being followed,” he reiterated.
