China agrees to export significantly fewer hybrid vehicles to the European Union following recent negotiations. It is a development to the satisfaction of manufacturers, who speak of a “positive advance”.

A China agrees to export fewer hybrid cars to the European Union, following the recent negotiations between the 27 block and the Asian country. European car manufacturers welcome developments.

 

The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) said that “welcomes the announcement by the European Commission and China of a provisional agreement to correct critical trade imbalances“ according to a statement.

“ Pending a detailed examination of the content of this agreement, this announcement is a positive progress to mitigate trade tensions between the two parties“, he added.

“ A sudden and marked destabilisation of the European market, accompanied by price wars similar to those currently characteristic of the Chinese market, would have highly disturbing effects on the european economy as a whole“, said Sigrid de Vries, director-general of ACEA, quoted in the same note.

China agreed to export fewer hybrid vehicles

“Today’s announcement can help facilitate, in an orderly manner, the transition to a new era of Chinese presence on the European market, which is in the interests of all the long-term parties,” he added.

China agreed to significantly reduce exports of hybrid vehicles to the EU this should prevent millions of these vehicles from arriving on the European market in the coming years, European Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic announced today in Beijing.
