O old Mozambican President Joaquim Chissano today defended the creation of partnerships between Portuguese and Mozambican companies to transform Mozambique's resources in the country.
“Mozambican companies must be born in partnership with Portuguese companies and the time must come when Mozambicans can also invest in Portugal,” he said during the debate “Portugal-Mozambique: Dialogue, Cooperation and Development” at the Mário Soares Foundation and Maria Barroso in Lisbon.
“It is necessary to increase knowledge in Mozambique and skills,” he said, arguing that resources would be more valuable “if they were treated, transformed and valued in Mozambique, by Mozambicans, with the Portuguese”.
“Just think win-win, just think win-win, win-win”, he said.
"May Portugal also say what Mozambique will gain from this and work on this basis," he added.
The debate also featured the participation of former Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and the PS Secretary-General, José Luís Carneiro, in moderation of Jamila Madeira.
