Apresented at the beginning of the week, the Citroën 2 CV Concept marks the return of the historical model, anticipating the lines of the production model that will arrive in 2028.
And there's an idea implemented in the conceptual automobile that impresses because it's at least unusual: the eggs in the doors, which are storage compartments designed as boxes of eggs with a capacity of six each.
It may seem an unusual and unusable option, but there's a reason to be and there's no chance. According to a statement, this is “a direct homage to the original purpose of the 2 CV”.
It's just.. the design of the original 2 CV required, in its development, that the automobile could cross a field plowed with a basket of eggs without them breaking.
The old model emerged in the late 1940s and the project began in the previous decade. Agrarian and rural France, who needed an automobile capable of going anywhere and capable not only of transporting people (was thought for farmers), but also cargo, with a competent suspension to ensure comfort and stability – even on the roads in very bad conditions that existed.
It should be noted that the new Citroën 2 CV Concept is imagined as a small electric automobile (it will weigh about 1,000 kg) to fit European regulations for E-Car (which are not yet closed). It aims to be accessible, with prices around EUR 15,000 before subsidies.
