Parking in Chiado
A Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (CML) reached agreement with the operators of two parking lots in Chiado, to provide night months of 22 euros for residents.
“The municipality reached agreement with the operators of the Chiado Parking Park, Almirante Pessanha Street, and the Camões Parking Park, in Praça Luís de Camões, to provide nightlife for residents for the value of 22 euros per month,” CML announced in a statement.
This is the municipal program “Viva a Rua”, in which CML decided to increase pedestrian areas in the main streets of Chiado, covering Garrett Street, Nova do Almada Street, Calçada do Sacramento, Ivens Street and Serpa Street. Pinto with enlargement of the walks, Rua Anchieta with formalization of the integral pedonalization and Rua do Carmo with the placement of removable banks and flower trees since it is already totally pedestrian.
The intervention started in August and was completed in mid-September, with the painting of the pavement and placement of flower trees and banks, having the mayor, Carlos Coins (PSD), promised to expand the initiative to other areas of the capital.
This programme meant the elimination of almost 50 parking spaces in Chiado, to enable the extension of the tours.
The executive had already announced that he was creating specific solutions for residents, “preserving and increasing to the surface the places for residents, and negotiating favorable parking conditions in the underground parks of the area”.
In that Lisbon area, there are five underground parking lots, totaling about 1,200 places available.
