Four people were injured this afternoon in a frontal collision between two light passenger vehicles on the National Road 246 (EN246), in the municipality of Portalegre, which is cut in both directions, revealed Civil Protection.

Contactated by the agency Lusa around 7:10 p.m., source of the Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Alto Alentejo indicated that one of the people, a 45-year-old man, suffered serious injuries, and two others, a 20-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, are injured lightly.
The fourth victim, “a 56-year-old woman”, was still “in evaluation” at that time by the team of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) mobilized for the accident.
The wounded were already transported to Portalegre hospital, but the injured and the woman in evaluation are still on site.
The frontal road collision, whose warning was given to the authorities at 17:59, happened “a couple of kilometres after Santiago”, in the parish of Urra, in the municipality of Portalegre.
Due to the sinister, that section of EN246 “is cut in both directions,” added the sub-regional command.
For this accident, 21 operations supported by seven vehicles and a helicopter were mobilized, including firemen, GNR and INEM.
