“ O concept of victory of the supreme Allied commander in Europe is simple: maintain NATO’s advantage, which is consistent with the Alliance’s deterrence and defense plans and complements them,” said the spokesman of the American general, Colonel Martin O’Donnell.
“ Given the volatile and complex global security environment, we must now create the conditions to deter any aggression and, if necessary, prevail in the event of an attack,” O’Donnell added.
According to the spokesman, the maximum responsible for planning and executing all NATO military operations will detail his ideas at a security conference to be held in Warsaw next Monday.
This initiative by the highest-ranking military officer of the organisation comes at a time when NATO seeks to send a message to Moscow to put an end to what Western authorities describe as a “hybrid campaign” against Ukraine’s supporters.
Traditionally, NATO keeps secret its elaborate defense plans to neutralize any attack from Russia.
Fears have increased in recent months as the Russian presidency (Kremlin) appears to intensify its actions with several incidents of major impact, including the discovery of a drone loaded with explosives at a German airport.
Germany’s head of external intelligence service, Martin Jager, today accused Russia of intensifying its “secret war” against Germany, increasing the risk of armed conflict.
Jager stated that the confrontation with Moscow took on a “new and more dangerous dimension” through hybrid espionage, cybercrime and sabotage campaigns.
