O Sporting trained at Cristiano Ronaldo Academy in Alcochete in the last few days without much of the players from the main team squad. To face the size group of absences, Rui Borges was forced to make a cut and seam to organize the trainings.
In the middle of club competitions, as a result of the compromises between teams, the coach of the main team of Sporting was forced to call more than a dozen young people from the green and white training classes, particularly from team B, to be able to compose the work sessions. From defense to attack, and in this space of about 15 days, much youth showed up to the transmounted technician. If some of them did so for the first time, others are already habitués at these times when the working group receives a large cut or simply are being observed by Rui Borges throughout the season.
Starting with the more backward sector, that of the goal, Rui Borges did not call anyone of the training teams, since he had at his disposal Kaique Pereira, the substitute of the titular Rui Silva, and young Diego Callai, the third in the hierarchy of goalkeepers.
Already in defense, Rodrigo Dias, Miguel Alves and spanish Lucas Taibo they had the opportunity to train with their elders. The trio, moreover, is usually a regular presence in the training in these breaks for the selection games, and the first has already debuted, including, in the lions' main team. Rodrigo Dias started the inaugural journey of the I Liga, a round in which Sporting was tied in the home of the Amadora Star (2-2). The left side took advantage of Maxi Araújo's absence for punishment to debut on the main team.
Half-field and attack filled with youth
From the intermediate sector forward, many young people were called for training. The name that perhaps jumps the most is that of Mateo Tanlongo. Once a figure of the first team of lions, the Argentine has been a regular option on team B this season and already takes an assistance on the menu. Ivanildo Mendes, Catarino Pascoal and Just Samuel they also trained under the observation of Rui Borges, and the latter already counts, including, with experience in the I League, the result of the loan to Casa Pia. Kauã Oliveira, creative team B, was also called by the transmontan coach.
For the wards in the attack, and in a sector that has been heavily depleted these days, Mauro Couto, Bidu, Paulo Cardoso and Micael Sanhá it was the young people who could show Rui Borges in this break for the selection games, and the first two were even an option in a preparation game in Alcochete, in which Sporting won, by 1-0, the Atlético CP, emblem that competes in League 3. Miguel Almeida, 19 years old, was the other of the youth who was at Rui Borges's orders in these trainings.
It should also be noted that the set guided by Rui Borges will again take action in Alcochete, on the morning of Wednesday, behind closed doors, at a time when two days are left for the next official meeting, in front of Sporting Braga, in the Quarreira, concerning the eightth day of the Portuguese championship.
