A EDP today won a batch of electric power transmission, promoted by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), with an estimated investment of 316.9 million reais (52.4 million euros) in Goiás and Bay.
The lot provides for the construction of 65 kilometers of transmission lines and a substation with transformation capacity of 300 MVA, linking the regions of Iaciara and Guarani de Goiás, in Goiás, and Correntina, in Bahia
EDP will have a Permitted Annual Revenue (RAP) of 26.53 million reais (EUR 4,38 million), with a loss of 53.29% compared to the maximum RAP established for the lot, and a deadline of 48 months
According to the company, the project should contribute to the service of the northeast of Goiás and expand the presence of EDP in the state, taking advantage of the company's accumulated experience in the region.
Currently, EDP has 2,032 kilometers of transmission lines in operation throughout the Brazilian territory, while the total extension of its network, considering assets under construction and in operation, reaches 3,001 kilometers
The company reported that it invested more than 8.5 billion reais (1.40 billion euros) in works and transmission projects since 2017, being present in 12 Brazilian states.
Between 2026 and 2028, the company plans to invest around 3.7 billion reais (611.3 million euros) in the development of new projects and in the expansion of its operations in the transmission segment.
Accomplished by Aneel, the auction, held at B3 headquarters in São Paulo, ended with 8.8 billion reais (€1.45 billion) in planned investments in electricity transmission infrastructure in Brazil.
Companies from Spain or controlled by Spanish groups won seven of the eight lots, with emphasis also on Cymi Construções and Neoenergia, which took two ventures each, in addition to Cox Brazil that took another batch.
The eight lots put into bid were closed, with a total loss of 50.10%, representing an estimated economy of 20,7 billion reais (EUR 3,42 billion) for consumers during the duration of the contracts, according to Aneel.
Also according to the Brazilian regulatory agency, the RAP values proposed by the winners totaled 811.1 million reais (134 million euros), remaining 50.10% below the ceiling of 1.63 billion reais (268,6 million euros) established by Aneel
RAP paid dealers for the construction and maintenance of the auctioned ventures during the 30 years of validity of the concessions
The notice included 1,866 kilometers of new transmission lines, the continuity of operation and maintenance of 483 kilometers of lines and substations with transformation capacity of 12,694 MVA
The projects are distributed among the states of Bahia, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Paraná, Rondônia and São Paulo, with a forecast of the creation of 20,000 jobs and deadlines for entry into commercial operation between 42 and 60 months.
