O Republican Party is beginning to adopt a harm control strategy by assuming what polls point with ever greater clarity: they will lose control of the House of Representatives in the November elections.
Donald Trump's growing unpopularity, due to the rising cost of living, is the main cause of the expected electoral outburst.
The political media today publishes that high Republican leaders of Congress have expressed in private that it will probably be impossible to maintain control of the House, considering it essential that the focus be on the attempt to maintain the majority in the Senate.
Five Republican congressmen have spoken to Politico, on condition that they are not identified, and declare that the lower chamber of Congress is lost.
One of them even said that Trump is not helping in any way to achieve an improvement in voting intentions and that the goal is to “save as many Republican places as possible”, with another anticipating that Democrats will win 10 seats, more than enough to control the House of Representatives.
Trump decided to convert the November 3 elections into a kind of referendum of his mandate and became involved in the campaign, with participation in various rallies, which will hold until the end of it.
The Republican Party has already cut funding to several candidates, to focus on those who think they have the best chance of election.
The situation is such that states that were considered Republican bastions, such as Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas, have the composition of representation in Congress undefined.
Earlier this week, CNN reported that the Republicans are moving into a phase of damage control based on polls.
The elections will renew the 435 seats in the House of Representatives and a third of the 100 of the Senate.
Republicans have a popularity at minimum levels due to the heightened standard of living resulting from the war on Iran, which the US government started in line with Israel.
The Republican Party now has a majority of four seats in the House of Representatives and six in the Senate.
