A apple is a common fruit that is available throughout the year. It can be simple, baked, shelled or not. In either way it can have several benefits. One of them goes through helping control blood sugar. Is there a better time to consume this fruit? A nutrition expert explains everything.
There may be advantages in consuming apples at various times of the day. However, Jacqueline A. Vernarelli, a nutrition expert, tells Health that any time of the day can be good for eating an apple if it aims to reduce blood sugar levels.
Best time for apples?
“I always say the best time to eat an apple is the one where you're most likely to actually consume. For some, eating an apple in the morning will be easier, and others prefer to wait for mid-afternoon snack. As long as it is part of a balanced and healthy diet, there may not be a suitable time to consume it” begins by saying Jacqueline A. Vernarelli.
“ More than schedule, I like to focus on what people are eating with the apple. Combining the apple with peanut butter is my favorite strategy for adding healthy fats and proteins, helping to mitigate a possible peak of blood sugar,” he continues.
It also prefers the apple to be peeled as it can help increase fiber consumption, but it also helps to attenuate peak blood sugar.
And what happens if you eat throughout the day?
Despite saying that there may not be a more suitable height, it reveals the benefits of consuming apples over several hours of the day. Morning and breakfast is something that can help regulate blood sugar.

Even before meals, it can also have some kind of impact. “Eating an apple during or before a balanced meal may help to attenuate peak blood sugar after meals, because fibers slow down absorption of carbohydrates” explains Jacqueline A. Vernarelli.
Even before training, it might be a help to boost energy. “Avoid consuming fibers immediately before intense training, if more sensitive.” At lunch or after dinner, there are more advantages to point out. “The apple provides sweetness and contributes to the general feeling of satiety.”
