A May 20, at the Bookfulness in Setúbal, a man was surprised at the door of his house, gagged and murdered. Four people are suspected of the crime, three of whom were arrested last week.
Your ex-wife is one of the detainees and all indications are that the victim's financial possessions have been at the source of the crime.
The crime that shocked Setúbal already has faces and causes attributed. Luisa and Edeuarder Santos are the prime suspects put into protective custody last week. Authorities believe that together they planned in a concerted way the death of Afonso. One of the suspects is still on the run.
Surprised, tied up and killed in his own house
On May 20, 2026, Afonso Belo returned home when he was surprised at the door by three people who assaulted him.
“ The two defendants, together with a third yet unidentified individual, went to the victim's residence in Setúbal, they put her in the bathtub, with their hands tied behind their backs and, with an object not yet specifically established, pierced her neck, causing her death“, says the prosecutor.
It is now known that the crime was planned by Alfonso's ex-wife and his current partner. The purpose would be to inherit the various possessions he had in his possession.
Daughter would be a means of receiving inheritance
Afonso and Luisa Sanheiro had an eight-year-old daughter in common. The two would be in a dispute for the custody of the child for what, according to Jornal de Notícias, one of the women's motivations would be to ensure the full custody of the girl. Luisa, who meanwhile had a new boyfriend – one of the suspects – intended to travel to Brazil with the same and with her daughter, but Afonso, afraid that Luísa would not return, did not allow, having this sparked a conflict between the former couple.
But not only. It also explains the Jornal de Notícias that Afonso would own three apartments, the one where he lived and two more that he had received by inheritance, a luxury BMW and other goods. With his death, everything would be in his daughter's name. But since she's a minor, it would have to be Luisa managing the fortune.
Two suspects arrested. One's on the run
Luisa Senheiro and her current partner, Edeuarder Santos, a 32-year-old Brazilian, were arrested last week and are charged with a crime of murder. They were in protective custody after being heard in first judicial interrogation this Wednesday, October 14th.
Because “if they consider verified the dangers of escape, disturbance of the course of the investigation, continuation of criminal activity and serious disturbance of public order and tranquillity, and in line with what is required by the MP, the criminal investigation judge applied to the defendants the preventive detention measure.”.
In addition to the crime of murder, the suspects are still charged with the practice of an aggravated kidnapping crime. This is because at the time of the crime, they were surprised by the presence of a woman in the house of Afonso who ended up threatened, gagged and tied. It was about the girlfriend of the victim's roommate.
Afonso, remember, was an employee of the City Council of Setúbal and was a porter of a local market. I was 44.
