A execution by firing the author of the Fort Hood massacre in Texas, United States, will be broadcast live. The information was advanced by a Pentagon officer, according to Reuters.
Nidal Hassan, remember, opened fire on American soldiers in a Fort Hood personnel processing center on November 5, 2009, and shouted “Allahu Akbar” (‘Alla is Great’) during the attack.
When he participated in a podcast, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had said he planned Hassan's execution to be public.
Hegseth said that the execution will take place on December 3rd at 1300 locals in Fort Hood. This will be the first military execution by firing since the end of World War II.
“ Let's make sure people can watch it, make it public. People need to understand that there are serious consequences for this kind of thing,” he said.
The massacre occurred when Hasan, at the time Army psychiatrist with the rank of major, opened fire inside the Fort Hood Soldier Preparing Center, where the military waited to be deployed or returned to foreign missions.
The attack caused 13 fatalities and left 32 wounded, being considered the most deadly shooting in an American military facility.
The later investigation determined that Hasan had been in contact with radical clergyman Anwar al Awlaki, who later became a prominent figure of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
Hasan was tried by a military court and declared himself innocent, having acted as his own lawyer during the process.
On 28 August 2013, he was sentenced to death unanimously by the members of the court.
Trump approved execution by firing
It should be noted that American President Donald Trump approved the execution by firing Nidal Malik Hasan.
The decision of the U.S. President was confirmed last Monday, on the account on the Social Network X of Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, who said that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recommended the execution of the former Army Major by firing and that Trump gave his approval.
