Francesco Farioli will have asked FC Porto to advance to the acquisition of Jorthy Mokio, in the past summer transfer market, but the values required by Ajax have laid everything down. This was at least the information advanced this weekend by the Dutch newspaper Het Parool.
The Italian coach, you can read, appreciates “versatility”, the “several technical qualities” and the “excellent physical profile” of the player who, at the age of 18, is already an undisputed holder in the main team of the Godenzonen, with a goal and two assists in the 14 official games in which he was used by Spanish coach Míchel, this time.
The same publication adds that, although this ‘boyfriend’ did not give in ‘marriage’, the helmsman of the national champions in title (who knows well the historic emblem of Amsterdam, which guided, in the sport season of 2024/25), “continues to see a huge potential” in the already international Belgian.
It is certain that the medium-defensive (which can also act in earlier positions of the intermediate sector of the terrain and even in the left wing of the defense) renewed contract last April, until June 2031, and its pass is evaluated by the specialized portal Transfermarkt eur 15 million.
Of Congolese ancestry, Jorthy Mokio was born in Gent, and served training at the local club, having shown potential from early on, in such a way that the debut as senior was held on March 29, 2024, in the victory applied to Standard Liège, when he had just celebrated the 16th anniversary.
Three months later, he finished his contract and went on a journey to Johan Cruyff Arena, where, after a short period of affirmation, at the service of team B, he gave the ‘jump’ to the main. In the middle, he had the opportunity to debut by the Belgian team on 20 March 2025, in the defeat suffered before Ukraine, by 3-1.
Jorthy Mokio is only behind..
The news of the alleged interest of FC Porto in Jorthy Mokio appears less than a week after the Belgian international was ‘obsessed’ by... Oskar Pietuszewski, in a list drawn up by the Football Observatory (CIES) regarding the most valuable sub-20 players to align outside the so-called ‘Big5’.
Oskar Pietuszewski appeared in the first place, with a market value fixed at the €56.3 million, immediately ahead, precisely of Jorthy Mokyo, who stayed at the €52.9 million, in a study that put out of the equation the young talents of Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.
In the top10 two other ‘known faces’ of Portuguese football appeared, more precisely, Mateus Mané (of Wolverhampton, with 46.1 million euros) and João Simões (of Sporting, with 43.2 million euros). Below were Gabriel Mec of FC Porto (EUR 13.7 million), Flávio Gonçalves of Sporting (EUR 13.6 million), Oumar Camara of Vitória SC (EUR 12.6 million) and Daniel Banjaqui of Benfica (EUR 7.5 million).
