Gisela João opened his heart with fans and followers of social networks. The fadist revealed that her brother was diagnosed with cancer last August and confessed that she has since devoted her time to helping him.
“Day zero. The latest news came to us in early August, and then my life changed. I'm gonna talk about my life, because I don't want to expose my brother's privacy. But I can talk about everything that's changed in me.
My sense of mission in this life has become very clear: helping others. In that case, help my brother. From day one, I had no doubt that I would do everything in my power. Even cut off an arm, if needed, to have it by my side for many years and continue to mock his head”, he began to say.
“ Yesterday I arrived at the Port IPO at 9:37. It was sunny and the day was beautiful. Entering the IPO reminded me of the entrance to a mall. So many people, so many runners, so many floors, possibilities, so many smiles and so many good days. For a moment, I almost forgot where I was: a place from which we all want to be far away and where there is still so much life going on. I spent the day with tears in my eyes seeing doctors, nurses and auxiliaries working, explaining, receiving and caring. I don't want to talk about warriors or warriors or phrases that annoy me. I want to talk about people who do extraordinary work in a place where human fragility is everywhere. In those people I see hope. Much hope”, he added.
Gisela also spoke about the importance of donating bone marrow and appealed to all who can do the same.
“ I came out of there with enormous energy. Not because I stopped being afraid, but because I realized there are so many people doing everything they can to keep life going. And I want to start talking to you about the bone marrow donation. About what it means to be a donor, how the process works and the importance of signing up as potential donors. Because we might be compatible with someone who needs us to have a chance to keep living. Talking to you about the League, believing you're touching me. I still have a lot to learn, but I want to use my voice to share this path, clarify doubts and give visibility to those who deserve to be seen.
Sometimes helping someone starts before we know who that person is. He's in a position to be there. Yesterday was day zero. The first step of a path that I will take to my brother, and to upset his head for many years”, he added.
