O Government will deliver to Parliament on Thursday the proposal for a State Budget Act for 2027, two days before the deadline.

The information was advanced in a statement by the Ministry of Finance indicating that the document will be delivered to Parliament at 2:15 p.m. and presented at a press conference at 4 p.m.

By law, the proposal for a Government State Budget must formally enter the Assembly of the Republic by 10 October. But this year, being October 10th a Saturday, the deadline would extend until October 12th, the following Monday.

The statement states that the Minister of State and Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, will deliver the proposal for a State Budget 2027 to Parliament at 2:15 p.m. and present it at a press conference at 4 p.m. at the Ministry of Finance.

The government will approve the proposal in the Council of Ministers on Thursday morning.

Parliament will generally discuss the proposal of the State Budget Government for 2027 on 27 and 28 October, with the overall final vote scheduled for 24 November. The document already has viability guaranteed by the announced abstention of the PS.

Last week, following meetings with the parties presenting the general lines of the budget, the Minister of State and Finance said that the document provides for a surplus of 0.1 to 0.2% of the Gross Domestic Product for next year and a growth of 2%.

On this occasion, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento called for the responsibility of the parties during the discussion of the State Budget for 2027, warning that any measure adopted without compensation could “put the country in a budget deficit”.
